The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to have Ben Roethlisberger sit out Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and Dennis Dixon will start.
Roethlisberger has reportedly been experiencing headaches while working out with the team and physicians have now said he is “unfit for the contest.”
Interestingly enough, the National Football League has just begun a new concussion initiative and is trying to be more careful with regard to head trauma. Is it a coincidence, then, that Roethlisberger will sit out on Sunday? Probably not.
Big Ben sustained his fourth career concussion since 2006 during a 27-24 overtime defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. His head hit the knee of Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson as he leaned forward during an overtime running play.
Dennis Dixon, the former Oregon QB who hasn’t seen any action this season, has thrown a total of one NFL pass at the end of last season.
