Steve Kragthorpe has been fired as head coach of the Louisville Cardinals after three seasons. Kragthorpe, who took Bobby Petrino‘s place after the 2006 season, had a 15-21 while at Louisville.
Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich held a noon press conference on Saturday.
The Cardinals suffered a 34-14 loss at the hands of Rutgers in their season finale on Thursday. They went 4-8 this year and 1-6 in the Big East.
Lousiville went 12-1 in their last season under Petrino, including a win in the Orange Bowl. Kragthorpe was 6-6 in 2007 and 5-7 in 2008.
UConn beat Louisville by a score of 38-25 at Rentschler Field on October 17.
