Tiger Woods decided on Monday to withdraw from his own golf tournament.  He explained that the injuries from his weekend car accident would prevent him from participating.  Woods says he won’t compete again until 2010.

Woods said in a statement on his website that his injuries would keep him from playing in the Chevron World Challenge.

Originally, he had been scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday for the tournament, one that he hosts every year for a small, invitation-only, field.

“I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,” Woods said. “I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.”

“We support Tiger’s decision and are confident the strong field and excellent course will provide an exciting week of competition at the Chevron World Challenge,” said Greg McLaughlin, Tiger Woods Foundation President & CEO

Looks like Tiger’s found a way to evade TV cameras and a slew media looking for answers.

Woods is beginning to face questions from even his fans, who have been posting comments on his site. While many support the golfer, some say he should come clean and address the questions about his actions and those of his wife, Elin Nordegren, before and after his weekend SUV accident.
