NBA commish David Stern has suspended Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizard indefinitely.
Arenas was expected to get a lengthy suspension after admitting that he brought three guns to the Verizon Center back on December 21, which violated NBA rules prohibiting firearms on league facilities.
Arenas is also being investigated for allegedly drawing a pistol on his teammate Javaris Crittenton during a heated confrontation in the Wizards’ locker room.
Many thought that Stern would wait until authorities finished their investigation into the matter, but he probably got sick and tired of seeing Arenas joke about the scandal during interviews and in tweets on his Twitter account.
“Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game,” said Stern. “Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately, pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA.”
The final straw was likely the sight of Arenas, during the Wizards’ pre-game warmup before the game against Philadelphia on Tuesday night, pointing at his teammates making gun signs and spraying imaginary gunfire.
Hey, Gilbert. Now you’re suspended.
