Former Cowboys WR Terry Glenn has been arrested in Texas on a charge of auto theft.
Glenn was booked into jail at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday and was released around 1 a.m. this morning.
Glenn’s attorney, Luis Vera, said the issue revolves around a disagreement over an SUV that the former Cowboy had rented from National Car Rental. He claims that Glenn never should have been arrested.
“It is the biggest crock of garbage,” he said. “It pisses me off because this is not the first person I’ve had to represent who the rental car companies have done this to.”
According to Vera, Terry Glenn rented the SUV after he had an accident with his Bentley.
“His car was put in the shop,” Vera said. “The insurance company tells him just go rent a car.”
Glenn, 35, then rented the Suburban prior to heading to New York City for the holidays. The car company had Glenn’s credit card and could have charged whatever was owed, Vera said.
“He wasn’t even using it,” Vera said of the Suburban. “He just left it parked there at his house.”
Glenn returned from New York on Monday and on Tuesday, he was pulled over in a routine traffic stop. The officer informed him that the car had been reported stolen and arrested him.
Glenn had his 3-year-old son with him and a friend close behind to take them home.
Vera says that the issue should have been handled by the civil courts and should not have been handled as a criminal case.
