The Pittsburgh Steelers have taken Emmanuel Sanders with the 82nd pick in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft tonight in New York City. The wider receiver hailing from SMU is an undersized player who plays out of the slot.
Sanders had a wicked 2009 season, with 98 receptions for 1,339 yards and seven TD’s. He had an excellent Senior Bowl week and combine, where he ran a 4.4 in the 40.
Scouting reports indicate that he sometime tries to make plays happen before the catch, resulting in a loss of concentration on catchable balls.
On the surface, though, Sanders looks like a decent prospect who will provide some depth needed at the position with the dismissal of Santonio Holmes.
