USA Knocked Out of World Cup by Ghana

The party is over for the United States.

America has been eliminated from the World Cup as Bob Bradley‘s team departed the tournament with a 2-1 extra-time loss to Ghana.  This was the very same African team who also eliminated them four years ago.

Once again, the U.S. fell behind early and yet again they came back after Bradley switched things up at the break.

A penalty on Landon Donovan brought the U.S. team onto equal terms but this time it was their opponents who that certain extra something to come back from a setback.  It was Asamoah Gyan‘s goal in extra-time giving Africa just their third ever quarter-finalists.

The U.S. will have to wait four more years to try again.
