Candlestick ParkIt’s a pretty sad state of affairs here in America when fans can’t go to a ball game without getting beaten into a coma or shot.

Case in point…a fan wearing a tee shirt dissing the San Francisco 49ers was shot and seriously wounded in the parking lot after the team’s NFL preseason home game.  Another man was also injured in an earlier shooting, according to police.

The shootings happened after the 49ers’ 17-3 win last night over the Oakland Raiders at Candlestick Park.

This all happened just months after a San Francisco Giants fan was severely beaten by two men wearing Los Angeles Dodgers gear outside Dodger Stadium after the teams’ season opener on March 31.

Last night, the 24-year-old man who was shot was wearing a shirt referring to the 49ers with an obscenity.  He was shot up to four times in the stomach.  He somehow managed to drive his truck to a gate and make his way to security.

The other man who was shot had mostly superficial facial injuries.  The two incidents were separate but police believe they are related.

Authorities removed a man in a Raiders jersey from a  party bus before it left the stadium and are treating him as a suspect.

As an added bonus, during the game itself, a 26-year-old man was assaulted and knocked unconscious in a men’s restroom.  Police say he’s been hospitalized and a suspect has been arrested.

This followed a game in which numerous fights broke out in the stands and police were called into action throughout the game.

Is this a great country or what?

As a Ravens fan, I’ve certainly had the urge to go punch a few Steelers fans in my life, but you wouldn’t think anyone would actually shoot someone over a nice, heated rivalry.

Way to go, America.
